The PTR Triumph team celebrated a successful weekend at the Italian round of World Supersport with both riders in the top ten in both races. Tom Booth-Amos finished a fantastic fifth in race one and scored his first WSS podium with third in race two. Teammate Ondrej Vostatek achieved his best WSS result of eighth in race one and a solid ninth in race two.

The weekend got off to a difficult start for British rider Booth-Amos with a crash in Friday’s Tissot Superpole, resulting in a grid position of P14 for race one. He got a good start, making up four places straight away and before long he was in an intense battle for seventh with Jorge Navarro. TBA came out on top and picked up the pace. A crash ahead saw him promoted to sixth before he made up another place to cross the line in fifth.

Ondrej Vostatek started race one from P15 and crossed the line in eighth for his career best World Supersport result.

On Sunday, TBA had a flawless race, picking his way through the field from eighth to cross the line in third for his first World Supersport podium finish moving him to tenth in the championship standings. Vostatek had another strong race to finish ninth for his second top ten finish of the weekend.

WRP SKM Triumph’s Lorenzo Baldassarri was still unable to race due to injury. Teammate John McPhee enjoyed his best superpole of the season to line up in P5 and he crossed the line in P7, his best result of 2024. In Sunday’s race, the British rider started from 10th and unfortunately crashed out.

Tom Booth-Amos, PTR Triumph:
“Finally we’ve achieved a podium which is what we come here for. It’s not been easy leading up to this but working together with the team and Triumph back at the factory, we have found a direction with the bike the last two rounds and it’s a massive weight lifted off our shoulders so hopefully we can continue like this for the last three rounds.”

Ondrej Vostatek, PTR Triumph: “I really want to thank the team and my sponsors for their support.  Both riders finished in the top ten in both races so everyone is really happy. In race one, I had a really great start but I was squeezed in the first and second corners. I was able to fight back and keep the pace until the end so for me this was a really good race and I really enjoyed it. In the second race we ended up in the top ten again and I want to congratulate my teammate Tom for the podium. I think all the team did a really great job here and I am looking forward to the next three rounds.”

World Supersport heads straight to Aragon for round 10, 27 - 29 September.
